On January 12, 2010 the Island nation of Haiti was hit by a magnitude 7.0 earthquake. The USGS called it the strongest earthquake in that region since 1770. The quake’s epicenter hit just 10 miles west of Port-au-Prince and its nearly 2 million inhabitants. The moments after the devastating quake, Haiti was temporarily cut off from the outside world. Communication with Haiti was disrupted and information scarce. As communication gradually was restored and the first images and news reports began to air, it was very clear that a major catastrophic event had occurred in this impoverished Caribbean nation. During the first few hours, days and weeks worried families looked for loved ones who never made it home. It is estimated that the Haiti quake death toll surpasses 200,000 people.
Regardless of the hardships the Bride of Christ in Haiti is moving forward. Pastor Antonio Conserve moved by faith and once again announced and hosted the Haiti convention from October 30th to November 2nd. They worked tirelessly to repair the damage to the "Spoken Word Auditorium of the Bride" caused by the earthquake. When I received the announcement and invitation I quickly was looking forward to attend and help support the Bride of Christ in Haiti.
The convention was well attended by visiting Pastors and ministers from the United States, Canada, Saint Lucia, Chile, and Congo to name a few. The guest speakers were Brother Bernard Jean-Mary from Miami, Florida; Brother Jesse Robledo from New York and Brother Barutti Kasongo from Congo – Kinshasa.
From the very first service you could feel a very special anointing in the Spoken Word Auditorium and you knew that God was going to do something marvelous for his people. Upon the start of every service it was glorious to witness such praise and adoration to the Lord. I thought “Lord, here are your people who have gone through so much and many are not materially wealthy but Lord they know how to thank you for the joy of their salvation”
I have returned home inspired by what I witnessed in Haiti. I spoke to believers there who lost loved ones in the earthquake. Others lost their homes and the little they had but there is something inside of the Haitian bride that the devil cannot shake. They are part of a Kingdom that cannot be moved. Throughout the meetings we heard many reports of healings and deliverances. At the ministers dinner at the end of the convention the Spirit of the Lord came down and we all could not help but dance and praise the Name of the Lord.
Someone was heard saying "Haiti is shaking again but this time the devil's kingdom is shaking"
If the Lord tarries, the Spoken Word Auditorium of the Bride is scheduled to be dedicated in October of 2011. After years of laboring and overcoming obstacles and setbacks all is on course for a 2011 dedication. If you are planning to attend the 2011 dedication in Haiti, make your plans early because many more are expected to attend next year.
